The ultimate cheerful project—working with a leading rural preschool to build their online presence from scratch. I undertook photography, wireframes, design, and build.

Sites revolving around children have developed somewhat of a visual reputation for being loud and comic sans-y, so with that in the back of my mind I aimed to create something bright with childish accents—without losing the design to over-the-top typography or garish colours—and we had great success. The front page especially is vibrant and welcoming but doesn’t quite look like a toy aisle exploded.

Mad props to Carl Sherriff for his Good Hearts illustrations. His wee heart-shaped preschool mascots are great!

  • Fully responsive. As it was noted that most patrons of the Preschool have smartphones but do not all have computers, the site was built Mobile First.
